Luxury tiny homes have become the most popular option for those looking to buy a property in the country, with a growing number of UK homes going on the market in the coming months.
According to new figures from estate agents OBE, the number of tiny homes in the market had increased by 1.4 per cent in the past year, with luxury homes going up by 3.7 per cent.
The number of luxury homes sold last year was 2,933, up from 2,874 in 2018, the agency said.
It also reported a rise in the number sold by people who are looking for an “off-the-wall” way to buy their first home.
The agency said the “off the wall” buyers were the “low income earners” and those looking for a smaller house to live in.
“They are looking at buying a small house with a swimming pool and a patio for just £2,000 or £3,000, or maybe a two bedroom flat for £4,000,” it said.
“They can afford to spend £1,000 a month on their house but want a little more space.”
In the past few years, luxury tiny houses have become increasingly popular in the British capital.
In June 2018, luxury houses sold in London and the West End sold for a combined £15.8m, according to estate agent agency GSA.
A new wave of luxury flats are also available in the capital, with the new flats coming on sale from May 2018.
It is not the first time the number and popularity of luxury properties has increased in the city.
In 2018, there were 7,824 luxury tiny house homes in London, up by 11.4 percent from 2017, according the agent.
